Abstract

The development of smart cities in Indonesia is increasingly important in facing the challenges of urbanization and the need for more efficient public services. Web innovation is one of the main drivers in realizing smart cities, especially in accelerating the accessibility of public services, increasing community involvement, and strengthening urban economic resilience. This study aims to analyze the role of web innovation in improving the efficiency of public services, data security, and community participation in major cities in Indonesia. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with a case study approach in several cities, such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, and Yogyakarta. Data is obtained through surveys, interviews with stakeholders, and documentation from government reports and related institutions. The results of the study show that web innovation has succeeded in reducing service time by up to 50% in some cities, increasing community involvement in delivering input, and opening access for small and medium-sized businesses to develop digitally. However, challenges remain, especially related to data security and infrastructure limitations in the suburbs. This research emphasizes the importance of policy support and more equitable infrastructure development to maximize the potential of smart cities based on web innovation in Indonesia. This finding is expected to be the foundation for the government in optimizing smart city planning and implementation in the era of digitalization
